BMZ Announces €35 Million Support for Syria’s Health Sector
We welcome the announcement by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) regarding €35 million in support for Syria’s health sector.
We value this important step, which aligns with the ongoing efforts of Syrian diaspora organizations in Germany to convey a realistic picture of the major challenges facing the medical sector and to help advance effective and sustainable support pathways.
In this context, after nearly a year of continuous work and follow-up, a two-year hospital twinning partnership with Aleppo University Hospital was launched in cooperation with Daylight for All, with support from German development cooperation. The project aims to equip the hospital with medical devices and strengthen its capacities in a sustainable and long-term manner.
We extend our sincere thanks to the German side for this initiative, which is expected to contribute positively to strengthening the health sector and improving the quality of medical services for the population.
